THE PEOPLE VS KING DAVID
Temple Beth Sholom in Las Vegas, NV Returns to the Courtroom with Another Provocative Case

/Nevada News Articles/ - February 15, 2005 - A highly-regarded, well-liked, charismatic (if somewhat controversial) leader of an important nation is caught... accused of unspeakable acts, even having a woman's husband killed.

Seems ripped from the headlines... fuel to keep tabloids turning and talk radio ranting, far into the future. But for one thing: The "blue state" in this instance is the Nation of Israel, and the time is far in our past... more than 3000 years ago. The leader who stands accused is history's lauded King David.

Be there, when the provocative case goes before the court, Sunday, February 27th, at Temple Beth Sholom, in Summerlin.

For David's defense, Mayor Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas, an attorney with long history standing for the rights of the accused, no matter how guilty they may seem. Judge Abbi Silver returns to her roots as a tough prosecutor, arguing to hold the King accountable.

Judge Joseph Wapner, known for fairness and an even hand behind the bench, will again preside. And, you are the jury.

The day begins as you prepare for trial; studying historical evidence, to understand and grapple with the challenging legal and moral issues at hand. Then, it's into the "courtroom" for a mock trial that will make Court TV seem tame; strong arguments, pushed to the limit, by leaders from the Las Vegas legal community. After closing arguments, it falls to you, jurors from our community, to judge David's fate, for history.

It's a case for the ages, that powerfully resonates right now.

The People Vs. King David is second in a series: A sequel to last year's remarkable The People Vs Abraham, sponsored by Temple Beth Sholom and the University of Judaism. Participation is open to the community at large.

Registration begins Sunday, February 27th, 9:00 AM, at Temple Beth Sholom. The donation to attend and be part of this amazing experience is just $20 per person, including continental breakfast.

Temple Beth Sholom, is located at 10700 Havenwood Lane (off Town Center, between Desert Inn and Sahara) in Summerlin.
